(*)We use meteorologic data from our meteorological station in Destnice near Saaz. 30-years average (1981 – 2010) according to Czech Hydrometeorological Institute is being used as long-term average. (Up to 2016 the 1961 – 1990 average has been used.)

Comment:

In comparison with long-term average July was markedly above the average as to the temperature and substandard as to the precipitation. The rainfalls came in particular during the storms and amount is very unlike. Despite the data from our own meteorological station show just slightly below average amount of precipitation the most of our hop farms obtained approx. 20 mm only. Considering these facts we can evaluate July as very dry month with the negative impact on the yield of hops. At the beginning of month the hop growing and creating of side shoots went on and consequently hops started to blossom. At the end of July most of hop gardens are in the phase of cones creation. The chemical treatment against Peronospora, Hop Aphids and Red Spider Mite was dully applied. Hops are in a good health condition. According to the current state of growth the harvest should start by 20th August. The hop harvest in Saaz area is estimated to be average. Following picture shows the state of hops on August 3rd.
