Comment:

This March was typical by the slightly above-average temperature of 4,1°C (long-term average 3,6°C). It was above-average as for the precipitation as well, total precipitation was 32,3 mm (long-term average 23 mm). On the contrary April was slightly subnormal as for the temperature while considerably subnormal as for the precipitation. The majority of the precipitation came in very small amounts and therefore it did not influence substantialy the soil moisture reserve. The only significant rain came on 23rd April. As the total rainfall was only 5,1 mm, moisture deficit was reduced just softly. For the time being moisture deficit has no negative influence on hops grow. Dry weather enabled smooth process of spring works on hop gardens. Hop cutting was finished till 23rd April. Stringing was finished nearly at all the hop areas by the end of April. Dry weather together with frosts during the last decade of April caused slowdown in hop grow and therefore the hop training has not been started yet on any hop garden of Top Hop Group farms. Nowadays hop plants are in sprouting phase. Hop training will be started at the end of the first week of May. Chemical treatment of hops was not made (except for several places) as the occurence of pests was just sporadic Photos show up-to-date stand of hop gardens.
