Comment:

Similarly as in December 2019 the unusually warm weather predominated during January 2020. The average day temperature rarely fell below zero, the average month temperature was more than 1°C higher than long-term average. The total rainfall reached just 10.4 mm in January - less than one half of long-term average, and the whole month of January was almost without snow. Warm weather continued in February. That month was extremely warm, the average month temperature exceeded long-term average by 4.7°C! The total rainfall was higher than the long-term average by 76%. March is considered to be ordinary as to the temperature and precipitation. Towards the end of March hop cutting started on TOP HOP Group farms. Warm weather predominated in April, day temperatures reached 20°C while nights remained very cold. There was in fact no rainfall in April, the total amount of precipitation reached 17.4 mm, which is just 56% of long-term average. Such a dry weather however enabled the fast progress of the spring works as wiring and embedding of training wires. During the last days of April we started to train hop plant in some hop gardens. There is necessary to use temporary workers for embedding of wires and training the hop but finding the workers was strongly influenced by spreading of Covid-19 disease.
