Comment:

Growth and development of hop plants was positively influenced by favourable weather conditions, first of all by sufficient precipitation. By 30.6. 95% hop plants reached the top of the trellis (7 m). Very favourable conditions during June unfortunately enabled development and spreading of downy mildew of hops. On majority of hop gardens there appeared spikes on plants affected by downy mildew. Till the end of June at least 4 sprays against dowmy mildew were done, which helped to keep the good health state of hops. Occurence of hop aphid and spider mite is just normal. In June there were 22 rainy days with total amount of precipitation 118,8 mm. Long-term average is only 59,1 mm. Thanks to that substantial precipitation water deficit of previous months was in fact eliminated. No serious damage of hop gardens was monitored during storms. Hails injured only insignificant area of hop gardens which will not influence the total yield. As to the temperature, June can be considered slightly above-average, month average was 17,3°C, long-term average is 17°C. Warm, but not tropical nights, contributed the good alongating growth of hop plants. At the very end of month first sporadic blossoms started to appear.
