(*)We use meteorologic data from our meteorological station in Destnice near Saaz. 30-years average (1981 – 2010) according to Czech Hydrometeorological Institute is being used as long-term average. (Up to 2016 the 1961 – 1990 average has been used.)

Comment:

August was 1.5°C warmer than the 30-year average. In the first two decades, the highest daytime temperature exceeded 30°C eight times and at the same time the night temperature dropped significantly. Day and night temperature amplitude reached 6 times the difference of 20°C, the night temperature was even 7 times lower than 10°C. This temperature deviation had a very negative impact on the growth of cones. The spread of rainfall during August was also negative. At the very beginning of the month 1.-4.8. fell 17.4 mm, but a further significantly higher amount of precipitation in the total of 43.6 mm fell only in the last decade of August, thus during the harvest, which no longer had any effect on the growth of cones, only complicated a harvest. On TOP HOP group farms we started harvesting hops ranging from 21.8.-24.8.. Approximately halfway through the harvest of Saaz semi-early red bine hops, it can be assessed that hop cones are small and light, which is a sign of a lower harvest. The health state of hops is good, the content of brewery valuable substances is average.
