Comment:

July was above-average both as to the temperature and as to the precipitation compared to the long-term average. During this month Saaz area was affected by several storms so that precipitation varied in some locations. Hop plants practically were not damaged. Nearly all hop plants reached 7 m of height (i.e. reached the top of the trellis). However habitus of a part plants remains conical (spiky). Hop plants are now in the phase of flowering and cones creating. During July chemical treatment expecially against Peronospora and Red Spider Mite continued. The health state of hops is good. The beginning of the harvest can be expected as usual around 20th August. According to the current hop plants stand the average yield of Saaz semi-early red bine hops is estimated at the last year level. The attached photo taken on 29th July show the actual state of the hop gardens.
