(*)We use meteorologic data from our meteorological station in Destnice near Saaz. 30-years average (1981 – 2010) according to Czech Hydrometeorological Institute is being used as long-term average. (Up to 2016 the 1961 – 1990 average has been used.)

Comment:

The month of August was temperature substandard and above-average as to the precipitation in comparison with the long-term average. During the first half of the month chemical protection particularly against peronospora continued. Health state of hops was good at the end of August, demage caused by peronospora is sporadic. The most of the farms started the harvest from August 20th to 24th. The end of the Saaz semi-early red-bine hops harvest is expected on September 10th. According to our estimation the higher average yield but lower alpha acids content will be reached compared to the last year´s harvest. Data will be specified after harvest ending. The attached photo from August 31st show the actual stand of hops before picking.
