Founding of TOP HOP GROUP
TOP HOP GROUP was founded very soon after the Velvet Revolution, which ended the monopoly of Chmelařství Žatec and Koospol (central organization for export activities in the communist Czechoslovakia) in the area of hop growing and trade. Ever since it’s beginning, TOP HOP GROUP started trading Saaz hops with the aim of offering hops of outstanding quality, an essential ingredient for brewing outstanding beer.

However soon it became clear that in order to be able to offer best quality and stable supplies, we had to secure our own farms who would provide stable supply of hops…

Founding of V.F.HUMULUS, s.r.o.
…and together with that our own research as well, which gave birth to the company V.F.HUMULUS, s.r.o. in 1994.

Beginning of the construction of new processing plant and refrigerated warehouse in Hořesedly
In April 2012 we started the construction of a brand new processing plant and refrigerated storage in Hořesedly. Interestingly, it took only a couple of months to build this brand new facility and what used to be a desolated brownfield, became a place of new life again.

By finishing the construction of new processing plant and refrigerated warehouse in Hořesedly, we added the last piece to the creation of exclusively Czech owned company that is a key player in the hop market and can offer guarantees of best quality throughout the whole production cycle of hop growing and trade. Beginning in the lab, through the field, all the way to the processing and finally trade of final product used for brewing exceptional beer.

TOP HOP GROUP becomes part of AGROFERT Group
In 2022 TOP HOP GROUP got acquired by AGROFERT Group, one of the largest Czech owned corporations whose main field of activities lies strongly in the agricultural sector. This union provided TOP HOP GROUP very strong and stable base as well as space for further investment and innovation.
Today
Today
At the moment we are by far the largest hop producer in the Czech Republic,
who controls the full production cycle. We own a total of 8 farms, 721 hectares (1782 acres) of hop gardens and we process more than 1200 tonnes of hops each year.
