Pellets T90
The mostly used form of processed hops. Dry raw hops is homogenized, cleaned of admixtures and if necessary, dried to 9-10% content of water. At this stage, hops are ground to the form of a powder, which later gets pelletized.
Hop pellets are then packed in food grade aluminium foils together with inert gases (contents of which are subject to customer’s specification) to ensure best conservation of compounds valuable in the brewing process. Final product is practically identical to hop cones in terms of the contents of these valuable compounds.
However compared to hop cones, hop pellets have a number of advantages. It isn’t only the longer shelf life, but also smaller volume, easier handling, shipping and storage, as well as better utilization of compounds valuable in the brewing process.
Pellets T45
Similarly to pellets T90, dry and raw hops get homogenized and further dried as well. However, after this point, the homogenized hops are frozen to -35°C (-31°F) in a special cryo chamber and ground to the form of powder. Then, vibration sieves are used for separation of the lupulin and the plant fraction.
According to regular laboratory analysis of the lupulin fraction, both fractions are mixed back according to a strictly specific ratio in order to obtain a concentrated product with desired alpha acid content. All that based on the customer’s specification. The rest of the process is identical to that of pellets T90.
The advantages of pellets T45 are mostly the higher concentration of hop resins, long shelf life and even more significant volume reduction, which reduce the shipping and storage cost even more.
Storage
Our production plant is equipped with a high-tech refrigerated warehouse. This warehouse consists of six independently refrigerated chambers equipped with modern warehouse technology supplied by Toyota.
This warehouse is used both for storage of dry raw hops right after harvest, as well as storage of final product – pellets T90 or T45. All that while maintaining stable temperature of 2-4°C (35,6°F – 39,2°F).
Processing
Processing line supplied by German company PROBST is equipped with modern technology for production of hop pellets T90 and T45, as well as isomerised pellets. Packing line gives us the option to pack our pellets in small volumes from 3 to 20 kg, as well as large volume packaging of 90 to 150 kg.
According to each customer’s specification, each alu-foil, box as well as pallet are labelled with printed markings.
