Suntory garden checking
Last week we had the honour to welcome representatives of the Japanese brewery Suntory, who came for garden checking just before the harvest begun. Apart from hop gardens, we also visited production facilities of PREOL in Lovosice.
Suntory is one of the most important brewing groups in Japan, and they have been supporting the tradition of hop growing in Czech Republic for a very long time. This year, representatives of Suntory came just before the beginning of 2025 harvest to inspect our hop gardens in Saaz hop growing region.
One of the stops of our trip was also the company PREOL in Lovosice, where we explored the production process of Biochar. This product made of residual rapeseed biomass is a great soil conditioning material. It improves soil properties, increases soil water retention capacity as well as reduces the carbon footprint of agricultural production through carbon dioxide sequestration.
