TOP HOP and V.F.Humulus on a visit to Saaz town
After the processing season 2025 ended, TOP HOP and V.F. Humulus teams took a break and organized a small teambuilding event. This time it took place just “around the corner”, in the world famous hop growing center, the historic town of Žatec (Saaz).
Accompanied by director Vladimír Valeš, we took an excursion through Hop Growing Museum in Žatec (Saaz), a museum which is the world’s largest hop museum thanks to over 4.000m2 of floorspace. We learned a lot about the history of hop growing, as well as the tools and machinery used in the past.
Next stop was the Hop Lighthouse, which serves as a unique viewpoint. Those of us who wanted could take an elevator ride with 3D projection, which allowed us to enjoy the history of hop growing and sort of “fly” above the town accompanied by Hop to Hop Goblin. At 2/3 of the elevation we took a break and enjoyed the views at Saaz town.
To conclude, we took a tour around historical Saaz brewery, now operating as microbrewery Sedmý schod spol. s r.o. Accompanied by the head brewer František Fryč, we learned how current beer brewing is done there and we enjoyed the local beers. Those of us who did not drive could savour the best selling beer Sedmý schod, those unlucky to drive or who did not feel like drinking could enjoy the Saaz Zero.
